Challenge
In the context of their MaaS (Mobility as a Service) strategy, STIB-MIVB, Brussels’ public transport operator, asked us to help them find behaviour change solutions to reduce car usage in and around Brussels.
Solution
We focused on two scenarios: encouraging urban drivers to walk or cycle short distances and encouraging commuters to use alternative modes of transportation one weekend per month. Based on an evidence review, we identified mobility barriers for each scenario. Subsequently, we conducted stakeholder workshops to define, develop, and prioritise interventions in infrastructure, communications, and service delivery.
Results
For each scenario, 10 behaviour change interventions were prioritised based on Behaven’s Rainbow Wheel™. These interventions are now available to STIB-MIVB and will help reinforce its various MaaS activities.

"Encouraging the use of more sustainable modes of transportation, such as shared and active mobility, is central to our strategy and the MaaS tools we are developing. As a result, it is critical that we rely on a solid approach that takes into account all types of influences. Behaven assisted us in taking on that challenge, and our go-to-market strategy for this particular segment clearly benefits from Behaven's expertise and recommendations."
